Maarten Koningsberger and Le Capriccio Français

The Capriccio Français Summer Academy, 8 days devoted to the baroque repertoire supervised by the artists of Capriccio Français. From Saturday August 21 in the evening to Sunday August 29 in the morning. The French Capriccio is a balancing act between loyalty to a team of musicians and welcoming young talented artists. The French Capriccio is a balancing act between loyalty to a team of musicians and welcoming young talented artists.

He adopted the definition of the word emotion in baroque times: what moves people and makes them different. And contribute, if only in a tiny way, to making happy those who shared these musical moments with him.

Le Capriccio Français

Since its creation in 1995, the French Capriccio has already given several hundred concerts. When we created the French Capriccio, we wanted to hear the formidable repertoire of the 18th century. If we play on ancient instruments it is because in each period there is music corresponding to the instruments and styles of performance. We are also seized with the classical and romantic repertoire: there is no doubt that our Traviata on period instruments was a world premiere!

Philippe Le Fèvre has been running the Capriccio Français since its creation. With the French Capriccio he has approached all musical forms, from intimate shows to opera productions, including oratorios, cantatas, symphonies and concertos, with a predilection for the 18th century repertoire.

One of the goals of Capriccio Français is to allow the general public to share this formidable repertoire. This is why, alongside our usual concert activity, we have developed “intimate concerts” in which we come to tell a story in a direct link with the audience. We have focused on support where, through interventions in schools, summer academies, conferences, work with amateurs, we help to train the public of tomorrow, to prepare spectators for the concert, and especially to make them want to come and meet living music.

The Academy takes place in the “Casa Sant Felip Neri”, a former convent. Classes, rehearsals, accommodation and catering are on the same site.
